John M. Capogna, DMD
A lifelong resident of the area, Dr John Capogna has been providing beautiful smiles to children and adults for over 20 years. He received his undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College of Pharmacy in 1981 and earned his DMD degree from Case Western University in 1985. In 1988 Dr. Capogna received his postdoctoral degree in Orthodontics from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania.

Dr Capogna received numerous awards in dental school including the American College of Dentists Award of Achievement, the Dentsply Prosthodontic Award, and the Psi Omega Scholastic Achievement Award. He also received the American Association of Orthodontists Award, which is granted yearly to the senior student in each dental school, who has been judged by his Faculty to have demonstrated the most outstanding qualities in this area of study.

Dr. Capogna's professional memberships include the American Dental Association (ADA), the Nassau County Dental Society (NCDC), the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), and the Northeast Society of Orthodontists (NESO). Dr. Capogna is also a member of the esteemed OKU Honorary Dental Society.

Dr. Capogna regularly attends continuing education seminars to remain current on the latest technologies and treatment techniques, and participates in orthodontic study clubs with colleagues from around the world. He believes that orthodontics is about much more than straightening teeth. Proper fit, alignment and function will help ensure a patient's long-term health, as well as the beauty of a smile.

We understand that orthodontic treatment can be daunting for patients of any age, and Dr. Capogna will take the time to explain the process and help you or your child get through it with minimal inconvenience.

Dr. Capogna and his wife Patricia have three children. He is very active in the community by coaching, sponsoring and donating to the area schools, athletic teams and churches.

When he is not creating "Winning Smiles", Dr. Capogna enjoys traveling, and spends his spare time with his family and friends.

Dr. Laura Bodner
Dr. Bodner is a specialist in orthodontics. She graduated from Binghamton University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. Dr. Bodner earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She was then accepted into the University of Pennsylvania’s orthodontic residency program where she did her specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

Dr. Bodner is experienced in all phases of orthodontic treatment for children, teens and adults. She is trained in the most advanced orthodontic techniques including Invisalign®, lingual braces, 3D imaging, temporary anchorage devices (TADs) and periodontally accelerated osteogenic orthodontics (PAOO).

Dr. Bodner is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association and Northeastern Society of Orthodontists.

Dr. Bodner was raised on Long Island and currently lives in Manhasset with her husband, Scott. In her free time, she enjoys kickboxing, Zumba and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Dr. Bodner loves being an orthodontist and her goal is to provide all of her patients with beautiful and healthy smiles!

Dr. Mike was born and raised on Long Island. He attended Saint Anthony’s High School. Upon graduation, he continued his studies at Boston College where he double majored in Biology and Human Development. After four years away from home, Dr. Mike returned to Long Island to receive his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. While in dental school, Dr. Mike received numerous academic awards, held leadership roles, and spent a summer in Madagascar providing dental care to underserved populations.

Following dental school, he completed his residency training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at the University of Pennsylvania. During his residency, Dr. Mike was trained in the utilization of the latest orthodontic techniques such as Invisalign®, 3D imaging, and orthognathic surgery. He performed clinical research, spent time with the cleft and craniofacial teams at the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania (CHOP), and treated a variety of complex and interdisciplinary cases.

When Dr. Mike is not creating beautiful smiles, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is an avid drummer, enjoys live music, and loves to travel.

Dr. Mike is passionate about providing patients of all ages with beautiful, healthy smiles in a family atmosphere. He takes great pride in the fact that Capogna Orthodontics is truly a family practice.
